Pokiri completes 500 Days

A new record has been set in the 75-year history of Telugu cinema as “Pokiri”, the blockbuster Telugu movie, ran for 500 days in Kurnool city. The Mahesh Babu-starrer, which was released on April 28th, 2006, completed 500 days on Sunday. The movie is running in a small theatre after completing 175 days on the big screen. This is the first time in the history of the Telugu film industry that a movie has run for over a year. The Puri Jagannath directed Pokiri surpassed the record of Premabhishekam, in which ANR played lead role. Premabhishekam ran for 365 days. However, Pokiri created several records, including running 100 days in 200 centers, 175 days in 63 centers, 200 days in 15 centers and 300 days in two centers.

Kamal condemns Hyderabad blasts

Padmashri Dr. Kamal Hassan condemned the bomb blasts in Hyderabad and expressed his sympathies with the family members of the victims. “I love Hyderabad and Hyderabadis. I wish the city would soon overcome the shock.” He was here attending the success meet of his latest film Raghavan at Prasads Multiplex. Sporting grey suit and full shaven, Kamal became the cynosure to hundreds of the audience.
“My film Raghavan is received well by Hyderabad people despite the fear-psychosis prevailing in the city. The film is working like a balm in settling the ruffled feelings of the people. The movie is hailed as a great entertainer. I thank the distributors and exhibitors in dispelling fears among the audience by arranging superb security arrangements at the theatres,” Kamal Hassan said.
Director Gowtham Menon, who accompanied Kamal Hassan, said: “Raghavan is my dream project with Kamal. Efforts are underway to remake the film in Telugu. Script and screenplay are major strengths. Harris Jayraj’s music is another big asset. Success of Raghavan is due to the collective efforts.”

Hero Sriram married Vandana officially

Hero Sriram (of Rojapulu and Adavari Matalaki Arthale Verule) officially married Vandana, a native of Kakinada. He married Vandana secretly few months ago but later the marrige ran into trouble with their parents objecting it. Vandana filed case against them.

The couple now settled the matter amicably and hero Sriram (known as Srikanth in Tamilnadu) married her 'officially' recently and held reception in Chennai for film personalities.
